Established in 1974, IAPSM operates as a "not-for-profit" organization, uniting specialists in Preventive and Social Medicine, Community Medicine, and Public Health across India. As a key stakeholder in healthcare services, medical education, and public health, IAPSM plays a vital role in promoting and advancing health policies and practices in line with both national and international goals.

IAPSM is committed to enhancing public health communication and education through various initiatives and activities. At the forefront of these efforts is the "IAPSM - Public Health Infographics (IPHI)" initiative. This structured approach focuses on the creation, dissemination, and recognition of high-quality infographics, aimed at improving public health literacy and awareness. The IPHI initiative introduces infographic templates to enhance the skills of young IAPSM leaders and fosters innovation in public health communication strategies. It leverages infographics for education, training, and awareness campaigns, expanding reach through collaboration with various institutions and agencies.

By creating a platform for accessible, data-driven public health content, IAPSM seeks to boost health literacy and encourage proactive health behaviors through visually impactful content. The ultimate goal is to support a healthier, well-informed society by making complex health information more accessible and engaging through the use of infographics.
