National Health Goals

  • Reduction of Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) to 32 per 1000 live births by 2017
  • Reduction of Maternal Mortality Ratio (MMR) to 123 per 100,000 live births by 2017
  • Reduction of Total Fertility Rate (TFR) to 2.1 by 2017
  • Prevention and reduction of under-nutrition in children under 3 years to half of NFHS-3 (2005-2006) levels 27 per cent by 2017
  • Prevention and reduction of anemia among women aged 15-49 years to 28 percent by end of 2017
  • Raising child sex ratio in the 0-6 years age group from 914 to 950
  • Prevention and reduction of burden of communicable and non-communicable diseases (including mental illness) and injuries
  • Reduction of poor household’s out-of-pocket expenditure to 1.87 percent of GDP by the end of 2017
  • Reduce Tuberculosis annual incidence and mortality by half by the end of 2017
  • Reduce Leprosy prevalence to <1/10,000 population and incidence to zero in all districts by the end of 2017
  • Annual malaria incidence of <1/1,000 by the end of 2017
  • Microfilaria prevalence <1 percent in all districts by the end of 2017
  • Case fatality rate of Dengue <1 percent by the end of 2017
  • Containment of Chikungunya outbreaks by the end of 2017
  • Reduction in Japanese Encephalitis mortality by 30 percent by the end of 2017
  • Elimination of Kala-azar by 2015, that is <1 case per 10,000 population in all blocks
  • Reduce new infections of HIV/AIDS to zero and provide comprehensive care, support and treatment services to all who require it

Eligibility Criteria

(Effective from 1st April 2018)

The following are eligible to take up membership of the society:

  • Those having or pursuing post –graduation in the speciality of Preventive and social medicine/Community Medicine/Social & Preventive Medicine
  • Present and past teachers of Preventive and social medicine/Community Medicine/Social & Preventive Medicine
  • Present and post graduates of Preventive and social medicine/Community Medicine/Social & Preventive Medicine
  • Teachers of the disciplines allied to Preventive and Social Medicine and working in Medical College – Masters in Sociology, Masters in Biostatistics – will be provided Associate Membership
  • Basic Medical graduation MBBS degree plus any of Post graduate degree/ diploma DPH / DCCM /DNB /PhD /MPH / MHA - will be provided Associate Membership

NOTE :

1) Provisional life membership number will be given to PG students (MD Community Medicine/SPM/PSM) which will be converted to permanent life membership after submission of MD certificate. Provisional life members will be considered for awards of IAPSM

Permanent Members of IAPSM are entitled to :

  • Four issues of IJCM free every year after registering with IJCM and filling the option form
  • Discounts on publications and registration in Conferences of IAPSM.
  • Membership of State Chapter and IAPSM Committees.
  • Access to IAPSM membership directory.
  • The right to vote and hold office of IAPSM for permanent membership.
  • Access to IAPSM awards.
  • Opportunity to participate in the IAPSM policy development.

Membership fee

Life Membership: Rs. 7000/- (since 1st April 2023)

Procedure to Join

We have developed an online registration portal for joining as new life member of IAPSM. So please click on the link below after reading the instructions.

Please click on the tab in RED at bottom “Sign up for not Verified User”.

Then in the click on drop down menu for - Are you an existing member. Please select “Would you like to join as a member of IAPSM”. Then proceed and fill in all details except your life membership no. which we will do it at our end.

Please ensure that you fill all the details relevant to you and ensure they are complete. Incomplete information is subject to non -approval by headquarters. Once provisionally approved and verified by headquarters you will receive the payment details on your mail. Once you make the payment we will finally approve you as life of IAPSM based on eligibility and you will get a login id and password on your mobile as well as email. You can change your personal information by accessing it in future. It is essential for communication from headquarters of IAPSM as & when required including delivery of IJCM.

Your name will be included in Master list of IAPSM only after completing this online registration and it is the only mode of registration. It will ensure delivery of journal (IJCM) at the correspondence address mentioned by you in this list after you fill the option form for delivery.
