According to National TB survey between 2019-2021 prevalence of TB in Delhi is 747 per lakh which is the highest among all Indian states. 19% of all new cases reported under NTEP are reported from Medical Colleges.1 To mark the World Tuberculosis Day and 100 days TB Campaign celebration by Department of Respiratory & Community Medicine Department between 25th Feb & 24th March, 2025 at Dr. BSA Medical College, Rohini, Delhi organized various activities for generating the awareness regarding Tuberculosis disease & breaking of stigma & silence on disease, Motivating the health care workers who are working in the TB & Chest clinics. Advantages of TB awareness for combating all such issues were discussed during sensitizing the general population as well as medical students and Interns.
The activities conducted are as follows:
- Walkathon for TB awareness by MBBS students & staff: Walkathon was flagged off by Head of Office, Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar Medical College & Hospital. Department of Community Medicine, Microbiology & Respiratory department in collaboration of District TB Centre (North west district) collectively efforts to raise awareness about 100 days Tuberculosis (TB) elimination campaign on the road to elimination of TB by 2025. The Primary objective of this Walkathon is to educate the students, interns, staff, faculty & the community about the importance of early detection treatment adherence & preventive measures to eliminate TB and reduce its stigma. The Walkathon included banners, posters, slogans & Nukkad Natak by MBBS students on 25.02.2025.
- Poster & Slogan making competition by school students:
Poster & Slogan making competition on TB awareness by students of Govt. co-ed school, sector 2, Rohini on 18th March 2025, was conducted with the help of school administration & teachers. The participation was from 40 primary school students with their teacher & faculty from Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar Medical College & Hospital. Students made informative & impressive posters with slogans.
- Interview of TB champions & pledge action at Pulmonology OPD at Dr. BSAMCH:
Dainik Jagaran conducted Interview session of Tuberculosis champions and District health Educator at Respiratory Medicine OPD on 20th March, 2025. TB champions shared their experiences of the disease and treatment. Now they are our TB Champions who help the TB patients to overcome their fear, anxiety, important factors of disease at individual and community level. All the Faculty, staff and TB Champions took a pledge of TB elimination. TB champions were felicitated with plants, caps, badge, writing notebook, pens etc. - Poster & Slogan making competition by Nursing Student:
Poster & Slogan making competition on TB awareness by Nursing students of Salokaya college of Nursing was conducted on 21st March 2025, at Department of Community Medicine. Students made informative, impressive and colourful posters with slogans.Role of Health care workers with TB Patients and how they can overcome patient fear, myths, and how they can counsel the patient at hospital. - Nukkad Natak by MBBS students (2022 Batch) on World TB Day:MBBS Students of batch 2022 performed Nukkad Natak at field practice area of the medical college and gave message to public about TB.
- Closing ceremony and Quiz competition among MBBS Batch 2022 & 2023 posted at Community Medicine department, 24.03.2025:
WHO consultant opened the ceremony with a talk on 100 days TB campaign followed by DMS who talked about destigmatizing TB. A Kahoot based quiz was conducted and played by students of 2022 and 2023 batch. The guest of honors distributed the prizes to winners of quiz & poster-slogan competition. - Government of India.
